Active Committees

MPO Policy Board, MPO Technical Committee, and Regional Transit Partnership.

MPO Policy Board

The MPO is the region’s transportation policy body, when it comes to federally funded projects. As is required by statute, the MPO carries out a continuing, cooperative and comprehensive transportation planning process for the City of Charlottesville and the urbanized areas of Albemarle County that surrounds the City.

MPO Technical Committee

The MPO Technical Committee consists of planning staff from State agencies and local departments, to provide a technical perspective to transportation. The Committee reviews and develops plans for consideration by the MPO Policy Board. It analyzes proposals for technical feasibility and can help implement proposals after adoption by the MPO or a locality.

Regional Transit Partnership

The Regional Transit Partnership (RTP) serves as an official advisory board, created by the City of Charlottesville, Albemarle County and JAUNT, in Partnership with the Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation to provide recommendations to decision-makers on transit-related matters.
