The Charlottesville-Albemarle Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) is a document used to schedule spending of federal transportation funds within the metropolitan region, in coordination with significant state and local funds. The TIP is a prioritized listing/program of transportation projects that is developed and formally adopted by the Charlottesville-Albemarle Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) as part of the metropolitan transportation planning process.
The fiscal years spanned by the document begin on October 1, and end September 30. The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) is a primary sponsor for many of the projects. Activities listed for Charlottesville Area Transit and JAUNT are projects and programs sponsored by the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) over the coming four-year period.
The Charlottesville/Albemarle MPO Public Participation Plan reflects the requirements of the present transportation act, contained in Federal Regulation Code 450.316 and outlines the MPO’s base Public Participation Requirements. MPO Staff make every effort to go above and beyond these requirements.
